WILLEMSTAD, Curacao – Bermuda (1W-1D-0L, 4 points) and Antigua & Barbuda (1-1-0, 4) missed an opportunity to clinch semifinal spots in Caribbean under-20 qualifying and berths in the 2017 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, when they drew with host Curacao and St. Kitts & Nevis, respectively, on Sunday at the Stadion Ergilio Hato.

In the Group A opener, Antigua & Barbuda (1W-1D-0L, 4 points) rallied twice to knot St. Kitts & Nevis, 2-2. Delano Hodge gave St. Kitts a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute, only for Javorn Stevens to equalize 14 minutes later with his second goal in as many games. Tahir Hanley restored the Sugar Boyz’s lead three minutes into the second half, striking in his fifth straight Caribbean match. With four minutes remaining in normal time, however, Luther Wildin brought the sides back on level terms.

Curacao kept its hopes of advancement alive thanks to a 1-1 draw with Bermuda. Leeroy Schorea gave the Curacaoans a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute, but Tevahn Tyrell made it three goals in two games with a 79th minute strike.

The Bermudians and Antigua will meet Tuesday with the winner being assured of finishing in first place. The loser will have to wait on the Curacao-St. Kitts & Nevis result in order to discover its fate.

Group B play continues Monday with St. Lucia-Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti-Cuba encounters.

The competition, which runs through October 30, will qualify the top five finishers to the next CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, which will be played in Costa Rica from February 17-March 5, 2017. The 12-team field already includes the host nation; Central American qualifiers El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, as well as automatic North American entrants Canada, Mexico and the United States.
