Action from Central American U-20 qualifying match between host Panama and Guatemala (white jersey) on July 10, 2016, in Panama City, Panama.
PANAMA CITY, Panama – Only two sides remain unbeaten – but none perfect -- in Central American qualifying for the 2017 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship as Honduras and Guatemala emerged victorious from a pair of games on Sunday at the Estadio Maracana.
Remarkably, each encounter produced game-winning goals in the 68th minute and Reyes was the last name of each decisive scorer.
CONCACAF.com takes a look at the action:
Reyes reigns for Honduras … Cristian Avila gave Honduras a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute, only for El Salvador to level through Jose Enrique Contreras 15 minutes later. Jose Alejandro Reyes broke the stalemate in the 68th minute, striking off a free kick to make it 2-1. Eight cautions were issued in the match, five to the Hondurans.
Guatemala’s Reyes on target … After goalkeeper Juan Loaiza fouled Jose Carlos Martinez in the box, Durban Reyes buried a penalty kick into the right side of the net in the 68th minute to give Guatemala a 1-0 win over host Panama. The match featured 10 yellow cards, six of which were issued to the Guatemalans.
