KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Football Federation announced Wednesday that goalkeeper Andre Blake has been called up to the national team as a replacement for Shaven Sean Paul ahead of Saturday’s international friendly at Canada.
Blake was key to the Reggae Boyz’s run to the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup final. The 26-year-old was replaced midway through the first half a 2-1 loss to the United States in the decider on July 26 after suffering a hand laceration. He was named the competition’s Golden Glove winner.
The 30-time capped University of Connecticut product was out of action until August 23, when he returned to the Philadelphia Union’s starting line-up in a 3-0 loss at Toronto FC.
Jamaica will depart for Toronto on Thursday morning from Norman Manley International Airport.
