Cibao FC defeats Ouanaminthe to secure top of Group B in Caribbean Cup

SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS, Dominican Republic – Cibao FC won 4-1 against Ouanaminthe FC in Group B of the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup on Tuesday at Estadio Cibao FC in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.

Eddipo Rodríguez opened the scoring in the 33' by circumventing the goalkeeper in the box to strike after receiving a free kick service through the ground from Jean López.

Carlos Heredia doubled the lead for the hosts in the 37' after intercepting the ball in midfield and driving into the box to score.

Rivaldo Correa struck a third for Cibao in the 48' after winning the ball back outside the box and taking a shot into the bottom left corner of goal.

Dave Altidor Jr. cut the deficit in the 55' with a strike inside the penalty area to complete a build up from the visitors.

Luis Quezada struck with his left foot in the 78' to add a fourth goal for the Dominican Republic side in what would be the group-winning goal.

The victory and margin of victory lifted Cibao FC to first place in Group B with a 3-1-0 record. The Dominican Republic side will have home field advantage against the runner-up from Group A in the semifinals.

Ouanaminthe FC finished fifth in the group with a 0-2-2 record.
