Grenades FC takes a point at AC Port of Spain in Caribbean Cup

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago – AC Port of Spain tied 1-1 with Grenades FC in Group B of the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup on Tuesday at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Shackiel Smek Henry opened the scoring in the 21’ by pouncing on a loose ball in the box.

Goalkeeper Marvin Phillip came on at halftime for Denzil Smith and was immediately called into the line of fire, making a save on a Quinton Griffith penalty kick attempt in the 53’ to maintain the clean sheet.

Duane Muckette had an opportunity from the penalty spot in the 60’ but was denied by Grenades goalkeeper Zaieem Scott.

Sean Tomlinson was denied in the 85’ by AS Port of Spain goalkeeper Marvin Phillip, who stretched out to secure the ball on a one-on-one chance.

Tomlinson broke through with the equalizer in the 90’+5 with a header in the box to connect with a cross from Keanu Barrett.

Playing its first home match in the 2024 edition, AC Port of Spain secured its second point of the campaign. The next match for the Trinidad and Tobago side comes next Tuesday when it hosts Cibao FC.

Grenades FC earned its first point after losing its opening encounter. The Antigua and Barbuda club will travel to the Dominican Republic to face Ouanaminthe FC next Tuesday.
