KINGSTON, Jamaica – Real Hope FA won 2-1 over Cavalier FC in Group A of the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup on Tuesday at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
Cavalier FC entered the match with two victories and seeked a third to inch closer to qualification to the semifinals. Instead, the club suffered its first defeat while Real Hope FA collected its first three points of the campaign and moved up to second place in the group.
Dwayne Atkinson opened the scoring in the 4' by putting the finishing touch on a build up through the left flank from the home side. Shaquille Stein, the leading scorer in the tournament, was the assist man after connecting with a long ball into the box.
Rikanel Chery equalized in the 60' with a strike inside the box to connect on a through ball from Jeudy Jhonson.
Steeve Mondestin converted from the penalty spot in the 66' with a hit to the upper left netting, placing Real Hope in the lead.
Peterson Pierre maintained the lead for Real Hope with a clearance in front of goal in the 85’ to deny Kaile Auvray.
Cavalier FC shifts its focus to its fourth and final match of the group stage against fellow Jamaican side Arnett Gardens on October 3.
Real Hope FA will seek to continue its ascent, and maintain its undefeated start, when it hosts Arnett Gardens next Wednesday at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
