MIAMI, Florida – The top spot in Group B of the 2023 Concacaf Caribbean Cup will be up for grabs when Jamaican side Harbour View pay a visit to Atletico Pantoja of the Dominican Republic on Wednesday night at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Harbour View enjoyed a very fruitful start to the tournament, winning 1-0 back on matchday one against fellow Jamaican club Dunbeholden. Now, they will look to further cement their status atop the group table with another three points against an Atletico Pantoja side that are unbeaten as well.
The road has been a bit different for the Dominican side, though. Through two matches, they have two points, coming from consecutive 1-1 draws with Cibao and Dunbeholden.
Nevertheless, with a victory on Wednesday, Atletico Pantoja would grab a hold of first place in the group for the moment.
The home side will be looking to players such as Jhon Mosquera and Luis Espinal for inspiration. Mosquera has provided both assists in the tournament, while Espinal scored the goal against Dunbeholden. Another key piece is Ronaldo Vasquez, who has 100 passes and eight shots through two matches.
GK Romario Palma played a big role in Harbour View registering the clean sheet victory against Dunbeholden with 10 saves, as did Gavin Burton, who was the goalscorer.
Garth Stewart chipped in with the assist on the Burton goal, but arguably the name on everyone’s lips was 19-year-old MF Okeemo Jones, who had three ball recoveries in that opening affair.
