Alajuela, Costa Rica – Liga Deportiva Alajuelense earned a 3-1 against Club Deportivo Marathón in the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup on Thursday night at the Alejandro Morera Soto Stadium in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Kenny Bodden struck the opening goal for the visitors in the 30', striking at the right post following a blocked shot on Juan Anangonó. Javier Rivera delivered the ball into the goal area off a free kick service.
Anderson Cardoso equalized in the 45' with a Left-footed shot inside the box. Javier Arriaga delivered the assist as the match was tied at halftime.
Anangonó had a header in the box in the 55’ but the shot was blocked by Alajuelense goalkeeper Leonel Moreira.
Diego Campos extended the Alajuelense lead in the 70' with a header inside the box. Aarón Suárez collected the assist with the service into the penalty area.

Campos collected his brace in the 75' with a Left-footed hit inside the box to beat the goalkeeper César Samudio.
Aarón Suárez had a strike from outside the box in the 78’ but hit the crossbar.
The result gives Alajuelense its first three points as it starts its title defense. The 2023 winners will travel to LA Firpo on Wednesday, August 7 while Marathón travels to Comunicaciones on Wednesday, August 14.
