SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – LD Alajuelense won 4-3 against CD Luis Ángel Firpo in the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup on Wednesday night at the Jorge "El Mágico" González National Stadium in San Salvador, El Salvador. 

Diego Campos opened the scoring in the 21' with a strike from the left side of the penalty area.

Jonathan Moya extended the lead in the 23' to culminate a counterattack for the defending champions.

Styven Vásquez answered for the locals in the 31' with a shot inside the box.

Aarón Suárez struck a third for the Costa Rica side in the 33' to regain the two-goal lead.

Gustavo Souza scored in the 41' to narrow the gap for the home side and close a five-goal first half.

Rashir Parkins struck from outside the box in the 67' to add a fourth goal for the visitors.

Vásquez struck inside the goal area in the 77' to cut the deficit again for the home side.

With the result, LD Alajuelense improved to six points as the leader in Group B. The 2023 champions return to El Salvador to face Alianza FC in their next encounter on August 20. 

CD Luis Ángel Firpo will meet Alianza prior to that encounter on Tuesday, August 13 in a meeting of Salvadoran clubs at the Central American Cup.
