Alianza FC defeats LA Firpo for first victory in 2024 Central American Cup

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – Alianza FC won 5-2 against CD Luis Ángel Firpo in a Salvadorian clash as part of the 2024 Central American Cup on Tuesday at the Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Marvin Monterroza scored in the 17’, to provide Alianza’s first goal in the 2024 Central American Cup.

Emerson Mauricio would extend the lead for the home side in the 34’ with a header inside the box to capitalize on a corner kick.

Anyelo Rodríguez added a third in the 37’ through great control and finish on the right side of the box.

Juan Carlos Portillo would further the host’s lead in the 54’ with a ground left-foot shot to the far post from inside the box. 

A penalty in the 60’ minute would see Rodríguez score his second of the match to place Alianza up 5-nil. 

Styven Vásquez and Gustavo Souza would then score two goals in quick succession, in the 77’ and 78’, to get LA Firpo on the scoreboard.

With the victory, Alianza recorded their first three points in the 2024 edition to move up to third in Group B. Alianza will face Costa Rican side LD Alajuelense at the Estadio Cuscatlán in their next challenge on August 20. 

LA Firpo continues to search for its first win following its opening three matches in the competition. The team is fourth in the group with one point and will visit CD Marathón on August 21 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
