ANTIGUA, Guatemala – Antigua GFC and Águila FC played to a scoreless draw in the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup on Tuesday night at the Pensativo Stadium in Antigua, Guatemala.
Julio Ramírez had the first look on goal for the visitors in the 10’ but was denied by goalkeeper Luis Morán.
Robinson Flores struck from outside the box in the 32’ but was denied by Benji Villalobos.
Santos Ortíz had his look on goal from distance in the 45’ as Morán made another save.
Kevin Reyes struck in the 45’+3 but Morán was there to deny the visitors again.
Robinson Flores took his shot in the 46’, which was headed away by defender Ronald Rodríguez.
Dixon Rivas attempted from the top of the box in the 77’ but was blocked by defender Alexander Robinson.
Both defenses walked away with their first clean sheet of the campaign as the two sides split the points.
With the result, Antigua GFC improved to four points to take the lead in Group C. The Guatemala club will be back home on Tuesday, August 13, against Panamanian side Club Atlético Independiente.
Águila FC begins the tournament with a point. The Salvadorans will look to build on this result when they retake the field on Wednesday, August 14 against Port Layola FC.
