TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – CD Olimpia tied 1-1 with Antigua GFC in the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup on Thursday at Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

The draw secured Antigua a move to the knockout round as the second placed team in Group C. Olimpia needed a win to advance to the next round and bow out of the tournament as the third place in the group.

Edwin Solano nearly opened the scoring in the 31’ with a left-footed attempt from short-range but hit the ball over the crossbar.

Solano did obtain the opening goal in the 48' with a brilliant individual effort where he took on the defense and circumvented the goalkeeper to score.

Santiago Gómez tied for the visitors in the 53' with a strike in front of goal, connecting on a cross from Romario da Silva.

Gómez had an opportunity to extend the lead, and collect his brace, in the 68' but was denied by the left post.

Michaell Chirinos nearly achieved the spectacular in the 89’ with a back-heel attempt that went just wide of the right post as the Honduran side pushed for the winner.

José Martínez had the last attempt for the hosts with a header from a corner kick in the 90’+8 but Antigua goalkeeper Luis Morán secured the ball to see out the draw.
