MIAMI – The quarterfinals of the 2024 Central American Cup begin on Tuesday as the remaining eight teams in the tournament compete to be crowned champions in December.
The only matchup of the day will be the first leg of the series between Antigua GFC and Deportivo Saprissa. Both clubs will look to take an essential first step towards the semifinals and secure a berth in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
Antigua GFC vs. Deportivo Saprissa
Antigua GFC hosts Deportivo Saprissa at Estadio Pensativo in Antigua, Guatemala.
Debutants in this year’s edition, Antigua will make its first appearance in the knockout round after finishing the group stage with an undefeated record. The Guatemalan side claimed two wins and two draws to finish second place in Group C.
José Ardón currently leads Antigua in goals with three this tournament. Romario Da Silva is the top assist provider with three for the Guatemalan club.
Saprissa will seek to improve the team’s performance in the inaugural edition and advance past the quarterfinals. The Purple club arrives at the series after placing first in Group D with a 3-0-1 record.
Ariel Rodríguez is Saprissa’s all-time scorer, with six in the tournament. Javon East has registered the most assists for Saprissa in the CCAC with four.
