MIAMI, Florida – The Final of the 2023 Concacaf Central American Cup wrapped up on Tuesday after four months of action.
There were many excellent individual performances over the course of the tournament, yet these 11 players stood out the most at their respective positions.
Goalkeeper
Leonel Moreira, Alajuelense – The winner of the Best Goalkeeper Award allowed just six goals and eight games and made 32 saves and 16 clearances.
Defenders
Bancy Hernandez, Real Esteli – Hernandez had a motor that never seemed to stop for Real Esteli and he finished the tournament with two goals in seven games to go along with two clearances.
Ebert Martinez, Real Esteli – Martinez was an anchor in the back for the Nicaraguans in making an incredible 52 clearances and 22 steals in 10 matches.
Jose Corena, Comunicaciones – Corena did it at both ends for Comunicaciones. He paired his three goals and one assist with nine steals and 12 clearances.
Midfielders
Celso Borges, Alajuelense – The unflappable veteran midfielder was his usual elite self in 10 appearances, scoring a goal, making eight steals and completing 90 percent of his passes.
Hector Hurtado, CAI – Hurtado had a goal from 12 shots in addition to his 19 steals while completing almost 88 percent of his passes.
Harold Medina, Real Esteli – The Real Esteli attack always seemed to flow through Medina, who helped orchestrate the Nicaraguan team’s run to the Final with a goal and two assists.
Aaron Suarez, Alajuelense – Named the tournament’s Best Player, Suarez finished with four goals in eights game and completed more than 85 percent of his passes.

Forwards
Joel Campbell, Alajuelense – The experienced attacker scored goals in the quarterfinals, semifinals and Final for three goals in nine games, plus an assist.
Agustin Auzmendi, Motagua – Motagua’s new arrival finished as the Top Scorer with seven goals from 25 shots.
Carlos Small, CAI – Small played a key role in CAI’s semifinal finish and Champions Cup qualification by scoring five goals and contributing one assist.
