• Race to become Central America’s club champion resumes the last week of September 
  • Eight clubs will also battle for six slots in next year’s Concacaf Champions Cup 

 

Miami, FL – Following the conclusion of the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup Group Stage, Concacaf has confirmed the pairing and schedule for the tournament’s Quarterfinals. The four home-and-away series will take place September 24-26 (first legs) and October 1-3 (second legs). 

The second edition of the Concacaf Central American Cup kicked off the last week of in July with a 20-club Group Stage. After five weeks of play, in which clubs played every club in their group once, for a total of four matches per club (two at home and two away), each group's first and second-place finishers have advanced to the Knockout Stage. These eight clubs are (standings and results are available here): 

Group A: CS Herediano (CRC) and FC Motagua (HON)
Group B: LD Alajuelense (CRC) and Comunicaciones FC (GUA)
Group C: CD Aguila (SLV) and Antigua FC (GUA)
Group D: Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) and Real Estelí FC (NCA)

The Knockout Stage is comprised of Quarterfinals, Play-In, Semifinals, and Final (home and away play in all rounds), with the Champion qualifying for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16 and the runner-up, two losing semifinalists, and two play-in winners for Round One. 

To determine the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup Quarterfinal pairings and each club’s path to the Final, the four group winners and four second-place finishers have been ranked 1-4 and 5-8, respectively, based on their performance in the Group Stage. The Quarterfinal standings are as follows: 

Group Winners Standings 

1. LD Alajuelense (12PTS, +5GD) 
2. CD Aguila (10PTS, +9GD) 
3. CS Herediano (10PTS, +3GD) 
4. Deportivo Saprissa (9PTS, +6GD) 

Second-Place Finisher Standing  

5. Antigua FC (8PTS, +4GD) 
6. FC Motagua (7PTS, +3GD, 9GF)
7. Real Estelí FC (7PTS, +3GD, 6GF)
8. Comunicaciones FC (7PTS, +1GD) 

Based on the standings, the Quarterfinal pairings are as follows, with the highest-ranked group winner playing the lowest-ranked second-place finisher (1vs8, 2vs7, 3vs6, and 4vs5):  

QF1: LD Alajuelense vs Comunicaciones FC
QF2: Deportivo Saprissa vs Antigua FC
QF3: CD Aguila vs Real Estelí
QF4: CS Herediano vs FC Motagua

The Quarterfinals will be played September 24-26 and October 1-3, with the return legs hosted by the highest-ranked club in each matchup.  

After the Quarterfinals, the four winners will advance to the semifinals and qualify for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup (the list of clubs already qualified is available here). The four losing Quarterfinalists will progress to a Central American Cup Play-in, where they will face off for the two remaining berths for Central American clubs in next year’s Champions Cup.
