ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – Alajuelense announced Friday the signing of Brazilian winger Yvanilton Raimundo De Almeida Costa.

The 30-year-old joins the Manudos after spending 2014 with Brazilian side Maringa.

“I want to thank La Liga for bringing me here, I know that it is one of the strongest teams,” said De Almeida Costa, who had previous spells in Brazil spells with Aparecidense, São Luiz, Guaratinguetá, Ypiranga Erechim, Novo Hamburgo and Iraty, plus a season in Mexico with Ascenso MX club Lobos BUAP.  “I am very happy.  I am going to take advantage of this opportunity.  My expectations are the best.  I was training with my teammates in Brazil.”

De Almeida Costa is the Alajuelense’s’ first signing ahead of its 2015 Verano campaign and CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal series against D.C. United, which kicks off at home on February 24.
