Motagua motivated with a win before visiting Tigres

Miami, FL – Honduran club Motagua was motivated over the weekend with a win in the Honduran League  before traveling to Mexico to face Tigres for the second leg of the quarterfinals of the 2023 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.

After the defeat at home in the first leg (0-1) against Tigres, the Honduran squad, the only Central American representative in the Champions League, focused on the local league to get a positive result.

This was how the squad of the Honduran strategist Ninrod Medina won 1-0  to visit Vida in  La Ceiba with a goal in stoppage time by Juan Ángel Delgado Murillo (minute 109), found the victory.

With that result, Motagua feels motivated at home and will have several days to prepare the strategy for its visit to Monterrey.

After 15 games in the Honduran League, Motagua is in fifth position with 22 points, 12 less than leader CD Olimpia.

Now coach Medina, who saved some of his players and entered as a change, will be able to focus on the visit to Monterrey to seek to overcome the result and seek classification to the semifinals.

Tigres, who lost the weekend 2-1 to Mazatlan, last place in Liga MX, will take the lead (0-1) against the Hondurans, which they got thanks to the goal of Luis Quiñónes.

Motagua, who travels to Mexico on Tuesday, will seek to make history against Tigres as he did in the second round against champion Pachuca.

"We go with the conviction to continue dreaming, enjoying the road.  We are going to lose and that is the reality, but nothing is impossible, we cling to that hope, "said coach Medina, after the game against Vida.

Next Wednesday, April 13 at the University Stadium, Motagua will take to the field to continue the fight for qualification and continue participating in Concacaf's flagship competition.
