PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico -- Rafael Sobis said goodbye to his Tigres teammates at a preseason camp Thursday, shortly after it was announced that he was joining Cruzeiro in his native Brazil.
The 31-year-old forward was a key player in UANL’s run to the 2015 Liga MX Apertura title, as well as to the finals of the 2015 Copa Libertadores and 2015/16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.
"I think it was the perfect farewell (in the preseason), because I got to be with my teammates, saying goodbye to everyone,” expressed Sobis. “I am very content, very happy. It was something a good for everyone, life goes on. We have to follow our roads and Tigres will follow theirs, winning as it has done in recent years.”
After leaving Fluminense in December 2014, Sobis signed with Tigres and scored 18 goals in 52 league matches. He also played in 12 Copa Libertadores games and another six in the Champions League
"It was nice,” Sobis said about his time with Tigres. “I have nothing bad to say, the perfect city, the club. We achieved many things and the club will continue achieving.”
Tigres, which is slated to compete in the Champions League starting in August, will open its 2016 Liga MX Apertura campaign at Santos on July 17.
