MEXICO CITY – On Wednesday, as well as becoming the first team in Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League history to overturn a three-goal, first-leg deficit in the semifinals, Club America set a new record for the highest single-game attendance in the competition’s history.
A crowd of 66,208 gathered at the Estadio Azteca to watch the five-time CONCACAF club champion defeat Herediano, 6-0, earning it a place in the final against the Impact de Montreal, which established the previous mark in 2009.
