Concacaf’s Disciplinary Committee issues decision in the Cavaly AS SCCL case

Published on
Concacaf has announced that its Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Cavaly AS (HAI) following the club’s withdrawal from the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Round of 16.
After due examination of this case, which included clear evidence that the club did not meet its responsibility of ensuring visa applications were made within the required time to participate in the competition, the Committee has established that Cavaly AS infringed articles 4.1.4 (applying for visas within the required time), 4.4 (participating clubs) and 7.2 (withdrawal, unplayed matches and abandoned matches) of the Competition Regulations. Therefore, and in accordance with articles 21 (Concacaf Disciplinary Committee) and 7.3.2 (fines in case of withdrawal), the club has been imposed an undisclosed fine.
Furthermore, in accordance with article 7.5.4, the Committee has disqualified the Haitian club from taking part in any Concacaf Club Competition for the next two years.
2022 SCCL Semifinals and Finals Hosting Criteria
Concacaf has also announced that if New England Revolution advances to the third round, an updated process will be utilized to determine which club will host the second leg semifinals (for clarification, this would only apply to series in which New England Revolution takes part in).
In normal circumstances, this would be determined by performance in the previous rounds of the competition (quarterfinals and round of 16). However, to maintain the integrity of this competition, the highest-ranked club based on total points accumulated in the Quarterfinals will host the second leg Semifinal.
Should New England Revolution advance to the Final, the highest ranked club based on the total points accumulated in the Quarterfinals and Semifinals will host the second leg Final.
The 2022 SCCL Quarterfinals will take place on March 8 and 9 (first legs) and March 15-17 (second legs), followed by the semifinals in April, and a two-leg final in late April and early May.
