Cruz Azul jumps into the top five in November Concacaf Club Rankings

MIAMI – The Columbus Crew retained its first-place standing while Club América has moved up to second in the latest Concacaf Club Rankings (CCR) update.

The Concacaf Club Rankings Index grades all clubs and leagues across the confederation. Teams gain points for results in official domestic league matches, regional cup matches, and Concacaf Champions Cup play.

Here are the top stories from the recent moves.

Cruz Azul jumps into the top five

Columbus Crew (1,252), runners-up in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup and champions of the 2024 Leagues Cup, remains in first place in the CCR. Club America (1,235) moved up to second to jump over Tigres UANL (1,231), who moved down to third.

Cruz Azul (1,227) jumped into the top five and was the biggest mover among the top ten.

LAFC (1,224), CF Monterrey (1,223), Inter Miami CF (1,220), CF Pachuca (1,215), Deportivo Toluca (1,213), and CD Guadalajara (1,204) complete the list of ten highest-ranked teams.

Alajuelense keeps the lead before the CAC Final

Reigning and defending Central American Cup champions LD Alajuelense (1,156) held on to its 42nd overall placement to continue as the highest-ranked club in Central America.

Deportivo Saprissa (1,140) at 48th, CD Olimpia (1,139) at 49th, CS Herediano (1,128) in 51st follow for an unchanged top four. CSD Municipal (1,117), at 52nd overall, rose to fifth place among Central American teams.

LD Alajuelense will meet Real Estelí in the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup finals. The Costa Rica side will travel to Nicaragua for the first leg on November 27 and host the second leg on December 4.

Cibao gains three places ahead of the Caribbean Cup Final

Cibao FC (1,068) moved from 81st to 78th after reaching the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup Final. Cibao also maintained its standing as the top team from the Caribbean region in the updated rankings.

Cavalier FC (1,054), the other Caribbean Cup finalist, moved one place up to 86th overall. SV Robinhood (1,042) at 96th, Mount Pleasant FA (1,038) at 98th, and Moca FC (1,023) at 110th round out the top five in the Caribbean.

The 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup finals begin on November 26, with Cavalier FC hosting the first leg. Cibao FC will host the second leg on December 3.

CD Malacateco makes the biggest jump

CD Malacateco (1,078) saw the most significant improvement, jumping 12 spots up to 69th overall. Tauro FC (1,081) moved 10 spots to 64th overall for the second-most improvement.

Municipal Limeño (1,014) moved up eight spots to 115th, CD Génesis (1,050) moved up six spots to 88th, and CD LA Firpo (1,031) moved up five places to 107th. 

⁠⁠Real Estelí moving to the CCAC Final was the biggest upset of the month

Real Estelí (1,082) provided the biggest upset, as the 70th ranked side, by defeating then-50th place CD Herediano on away goals to return to the Concacaf Central American Final for the second consecutive season.

Real Estelí hosts LD Alajuelense in the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup finals first leg on November 27. The second leg will take place on December 4 in Costa Rica.
