FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas announced Thursday night that it loaned midfielder/forward Fabian Castillo to Turkish side Trabzonspor FC through the end of 2016 with an option to buy.

The Colombian was acquired by Dallas as a then 18-year-old from Deportivo Cali on March 7, 2011.

In 2015, he was named the No. 1 player under the age of 24 in Major League Soccer, after scoring nine goals and logging nine assists in Dallas’ regular-season campaign. The solid season came on the heels of a breakout 2014 that saw Castillo tally a career-best 10 goals and four assists through 27 games. Overall in five and a half seasons with the club, Castillo notched 34 goals and 30 assists through 159 regular-season games, plus one goal in eight playoff appearances.

FC Dallas, which played without Castillo in a 2-1 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League opening win over visiting Real Esteli later in the evening on Thursday, currently sits on top of the Major League Soccer table with 44 points through 24 games.
