MEXICO CITY – Tigres extended its 2015 Liga MX Apertura winning streak to four games with a 1-0 win over host Club America on Saturday at the Estadio Azteca.

In a battle of 2015/16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL) participants that produced three ejections, Andre-Pierre Gignac’s first-half penalty kick proved to be the difference.

Club America (5W-0D-3L, 15 points), which had won its previous five matches, was reduced to nine players before the end of the first half following the dismissals of Rubens Sambueza (41’) and Dario Benedetto (44’).

UANL (4W-1D-3L, 13 points) lost Jurgen Damm (63’) for a clash with Michael Arroyo.

The game’s only goal came in the 28th minute, when Gignac found the lower-right corner on his kick from the spot after Javier Guemez fouled Damm in the area. It was the Frenchman’s sixth goal of the season.

Club America returns to action on Wednesday with a SCCL visit to Nicaragua’s Walter Ferretti, while Tigres is idle until Saturday’s home clash against rival Monterrey.
