MIAMI, Florida – On Monday, September 21, Concacaf will conduct the Draw for the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf League, which will be the fourth edition of the tournament for clubs in the Central American and Caribbean regions.

The 2020 SCL marks the second year in which the tournament will include a Preliminary Round, with 12 teams scheduled to compete in hopes of advancing to the Round of 16.

The Draw will see six teams from Pot 1 drawn into the Preliminary Round against six teams from Pot 2, with the winners of those Preliminary Round match-ups representing six of the eight teams from Pot 4.

Here is a breakdown of the teams in Pot 2.

Verdes FC (BLZ1) – For the first three editions of the SCL, the spot from Belize always belonged to Belmopan Bandits, but that has come to an end with Verdes qualifying for the 2020 edition as the 2019 champion and team with the best aggregate record during the 2019-20 season. Verdes are no strangers to Concacaf competition, having competed in the 2008-09 and 2015-16 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions Leagues.

Hamilton Forge FC (CAN2) – Forge FC remain the only Canadian team to have ever qualified for the SCL. The club returns to the SCL for a second straight season after claiming the 2019 Canadian Premier League Finals championship. Forge FC acquitted themselves well in their first Concacaf foray in the 2019 SCL by eliminating Antigua GFC in the Preliminary Round, 2-1, before being eliminated by Honduran giants Olimpia in the Round of 16.

Cibao FC (CCC4) – Cibao FC will make history when they kick off in the tournament as the first team from the Dominican Republic to compete in the SCL. By virtue of finishing with the fourth-best record during the 2020 Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship Group Stage (0W-2D-0L), Cibao FC qualified for their first SCL. Cibao previously got a taste of the bright lights of Concacaf competition when they faced Chivas in the 2018 SCCL Round of 16.

Comunicaciones FC (GUA2) – Concacaf stalwarts Comunicaciones are back in the SCL for the second straight year after making their first appearance in 2019 when they reached the quarterfinals. The Guatemalan club qualified for the 2020 SCL as the non-champion with the best aggregate record during the 2019-20 Guatemalan season. In addition to last year’s SCL appearance, Comunicaciones have played in six editions of the SCCL.

Antigua GFC (GUA3) – Antigua are also back in the SCL for a second consecutive season thanks to a strong performance during the 2019-20 Guatemalan football season. The club finished the campaign with the second-best aggregate record among non-champions to punch their ticket to the tournament. In addition to their 2019 SCL appearance, Antigua GFC competed in the 2016-17 SCCL.

Managua FC (NCA2) – It will be a second straight appearance in the SCL for Managua after finishing as the runner-up in both the 2019 Apertura and 2020 Clausura in Nicaraguan football. Managua held their won in their first SCL appearance in 2019, going toe-to-toe with finalist Motagua before narrowly falling 3-2.
