MIAMI, Florida – Reigning champion Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica and two-time Finalist Motagua FC of Honduras are among the many teams that have qualified for the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf League.

Below is a list of teams qualified thus far for the 2020 SCL (listed by country).

Teams that will enter the competition in the Preliminary Round:

CAN: Forge FC

The 2019 Canadian Premier League Finals champion will appear in the SCL for a second straight year. In the first year in the history of the club, Forge reached the Round of 16 in 2019.

CRC: Alajuelense

The legendary Costa Rican club have qualified for the 2020 SCL as the club with the best aggregate record in 2019-20 among non-champions. Alajuelense last appeared in the SCL in the inaugural edition in 2017.

HON: Motagua FC

The 2018 and 2019 SCL Finalist is back in the tournament by virtue of possessing the second-best aggregate record in 2019-20 among non-champions in Honduras.

PAN: Club Atletico Independiente

Independiente will compete in a second consecutive SCL thanks to owning the second-best aggregate record in 2019-20 for a non-champion in Panama. Independiente were eliminated in the quarterfinals in 2019 by champions Saprissa.

SLV: CD FAS

FAS are back in the SCL for the first time since 2018 by virtue of having the best aggregate record in 2019-20 among non-champions in El Salvador. FAS reached the quarterfinals in their only previous appearance.

SLV: Municipal Limeno

Municipal Limeno will make their SCL debut after finishing with the second-best aggregate record in 2019-20 for non-champion clubs in El Salvador. Municipal Limeno is the fifth different team from El Salvador to qualify for the SCL.

GUA: Comunicaciones FC

Concacaf stalwarts Comunicaciones return to the SCL after finishing with the best aggregate record in 2019-20 for non-champions in Guatemala. Comunicaciones finished as quarterfinalists in 2019.

GUA: Antigua GFC

With the second-best aggregate record in 2019-20 for non-champions in Guatemala, Antigua GFC will appear in a second straight SCL.

NCA: Managua FC

Managua have punched their ticket to the SCL for the second year in a row by virtue of being the 2019 Apertura and 2020 Clausura runner-up. Managua’s 2019 SCL concluded in the Round of 16.

BLZ: Verdes FC

Verdes have earned their first ever berth in the SCL as the team with the most points accumulated during the 2019-20 Premier League of Belize. Verdes’ previous appearance in a Concacaf competition came in the 2015-16 SCCL.

Teams that will enter the competition in the Round of 16:

CRC: CS Herediano

The 2018 winners are back in the SCL as champions of the 2019 Costa Rican Apertura. Herediano defeated Motagua of Honduras 3-2 on aggregate in the 2018 Final.

CRC: Deportivo Saprissa

The 2019 SCL champion will be looking to go back-to-back after qualifying as the 2020 Clausura champion. This will be Saprissa’s second SCL participation.

HON: CD Olimpia

Winners of the first ever SCL in 2017, the legendary Catracho club have qualified for the 2020 SCL after claiming the 2019 Honduran Apertura. Olimpia’s 2017 SCL conquest earned the club a berth in their Concacaf record 10th consecutive Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.

HON: Marathon

Marathon are back in the SCL for a second straight year as the Honduran club with the best aggregate record in 2019-20 among non-champions. Marathon finished in the Preliminary Round in 2019.

PAN: Tauro FC

Tauro FC return to Concacaf competition as winners of the 2019 Panamanian Apertura. Tauro’s best finish in the SCL came in 2018 when they reached the semifinals.

PAN: San Francisco

By virtue of having the best aggregate record in 2019-20 for non-champions of Panama, San Francisco have punched their ticket to a second consecutive SCL.

SLV: Alianza FC

The Albos are set to feature in their third SCL after winning the 2019 Salvadoran Apertura. Alianza reached the quarterfinals of the 2017 edition and the semifinals of the 2019 tournament.

GUA: CS Deportivo Municipal

The Guatemalan giants have qualified for their first SCL after winning 2019 Apertura. Municipal have qualified for six editions of the SCCL and are Guatemala’s most decorated club with 31 domestic league titles.

NCA: Real Esteli FC

Real Esteli will appear in their third SCL as champions of the 2019 Nicaraguan Apertura. No Nicaraguan team has appeared in more SCCLs than Real Esteli (6).
