MIAMI. - The CONMEBOL Copa America USA 2024 begins on June 20, with 16 teams, including six nations from Concacaf, fighting to win the prestigious continental trophy.

The United States men’s national team will open its 2024 campaign in Group C against Bolivia on June 23 in Arlington, Texas, versus Panama on June 27 in Atlanta, and against Uruguay on July 1 in Kansas City.

The U.S. will participate in the tournament for the fifth time and will be the host for the second time. The nation qualified by reaching the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League Finals, finishing as winners for a third consecutive occasion.

Gregg Berhalter is the head coach of the United States, first taking the position in 2018 and re-appointed in 2023 following a Round of 16 finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Berhalter was also on the sidelines as the USA won the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup and two Concacaf Nations Leagues. As a player, Berhalter was part of the 1995 U.S. squad that finished fourth at the Copa America.

In 18 matches in the Copa America, the United States holds a record of 5 wins, 11 losses, and 2 draws. Its best tournaments have been as semifinalists in the 1995 and 2016 editions, the latter as hosts, both ending in fourth place. A top-three finish in 2024 would garner the Stars and Stripes its first medal in the competition.

Eric Wynalda and Clint Dempsey are the all-time leading scorers for the U.S. with three goals. Cobi Jones, Alexi Lalas, and Tab Ramos jointly hold the record for most appearances at a Copa America with nine matches.
