NASSAU, The Bahamas — The 2025 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship continued on Thursday with the final matchday in Group A at the Malcolm Park Beach Soccer Facility in Nassau, The Bahamas.
El Salvador defeated Mexico to finish as the first-place team in the group. Guatemala won against Costa Rica to claim the other semifinal berth.
The semifinals will take place on Saturday. The two finalists in the tournament will qualify for the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
Costa Rica 1, Guatemala 5
Guatemala earned a 5-1 win against Costa Rica to secure one of the top two spots in the group.
Los Chapines came out of the gates with five unanswered goals. Pablo Crocker scored in the opening seconds, with Miguel González adding a second in the final minute of the opening period.
Berny Marroquín, 5’, and Edwin López, 1’, scored Guatemala’s goals in the second period.
López earned his brace in the 9’ 3P to further the lead. Carlos Arguello scored the lone goal for Costa Rica in the final minute of regulation.
Mexico 6, El Salvador 7
El Salvador earned a 7-6 win over Mexico in an encounter where first place in Group A was up for grabs for the winner. The 13-goal game has been the highest-scoring of the 2025 edition so far.
Andersson Castro, 10’ 1P, Francisco Velásquez, 9’ 1P, and Emerson Cerna, 8’ 1P, placed El Salvador ahead by three goals to start the game.
La Selecta increased its lead with three goals at the 5’ mark in the second period with goals from Melvin González, Cerna, and Rubén Batres. González earned his brace in the 2’ 2P to increase the lead to seven.
Mexico worked its way back into the match with six unanswered. Juan Morales and Ramón Maldonado scored back-to-back goals to respond at the 2’ in the second period.
Enoch López, 11’ 3P, Ramón Maldonado, 8’ 3P, Alejandro García, 6’ 3P, and Jacob Montes de Oca, 6’ 3P, inched Mexico closer to a comeback, making for a thrilling finish.
