MIAMI, Florida – Beach Soccer heavyweights El Salvador head up Group B of the 2021 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship that will take place from Monday, May 17 until Sunday, May 23 in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
The Cuscatlecos are a staple when it comes to the CBSC and will be making their eighth appearance in the tournament.
Champions of the 2009 edition, El Salvador have either finished in second or third since the 2010 tournament and will hope that 2021 marks a return to the CBSC mountaintop.
Joining El Salvador in Group B is a very competitive Bahamas team making their seventh CBSC appearance. The knockout round is familiar territory to the islanders, who have advanced past the group stage in the three previous editions.
Guatemala are also aiming for a return to the knockout round after achieving that feat in the last edition in 2019. It will be the fifth CBSC appearance for the Chapines, whose best finish was the quarterfinals in 2015 and 2019.
Rounding out the group will be Dominican Republic, who are the only team in the tournament to be making their CBSC debut. The chance to go against three esteemed opponents in Group B should provide a great experience for the Dominican Republic squad.
The 2021 CBSC will begin with a group stage, followed by a knockout stage. After round-robin play, the top two finishers in each group and the two best third place teams will advance to the knockout stage. The two teams that reach the Final will qualify for the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
