NASSAU, The Bahamas – Panama and the United States started with a point each in Group B as the 2025 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship got underway on Tuesday at Malcolm Park Beach Soccer Facility in Nassau, Bahamas.

The two best teams in each group will progress to the semifinals. The two finalists in the tournament will qualify for the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

The opening matchday resulted in draws for both Group B encounters. Extra time did not yield a winner in either the United StatesTrinidad and Tobago match or the PanamaBahamas encounter, forcing penalty kicks on both occasions.

United States 2, Trinidad and Tobago 2 (4-1 on PKs)

The United States took a point after defeating Trinidad and Tobago 4-1 on penalty kicks. The teams drew 2-2 in regulation and were scoreless in extra time.

Alessandro Canale opened the scoring for the U.S. at the 6’ mark in the first period. Akinola Gregory equalized three minutes later to place the Soca Warriors on the board.

Gabe Silveira struck from the penalty spot in the 7’ of the second period to place the Stars and Stripes back in front.

Gregory collected his brace with four minutes left in the third period. With no goals in extra time, the teams went to a penalty shootout to settle the draw.

Two penalty saves from Chris Toth gave the U.S. a 4-1 shootout win and the full point.

Panama 2, Bahamas 2 (4-3 on PKs)

Panama and the Bahamas drew 2-2 in regulation, with the Central Americans taking the point after winning 4-3 on penalty kicks.

Creven Ferguson placed the Bahamas in the lead at the 7’ mark in the first period. Wood Julmis extended the lead for the hosts at 10’ in the second period.

Panama worked back into the match with goals from Alfonso Maquensi, 9’ 2P, and Alberto Kelly, 4’ 3P, to force extra time.

Lesly St. Fleur missed a penalty opportunity with 10 seconds remaining in extra time to necessitate penalty kicks.

Each side was perfect through three kicks, missing their fourth tries, before St. Fleur missed the fifth spot kick for the Bahamas. Maquensi struck his attempt to win for Los Canaleros on PKs.
