ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – Lesly St. Fleur scored five goals to lead Bahamas to a big win over Dominican Republic in the 2021 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship on Tuesday at the Sports Complex Fedefutbol-Plycem in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
St. Fleur, a member of the Bahamas National Team that will compete this summer in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Prelims, was the man of the hour in leading Bahamas to a 10-2 win against the Dominican Republic in Group B.
Having scored for his country during the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League, St. Fleur achieved the same feat on Tuesday in the CBSC with five goals against the Dominican Republic.
Timothy Munnings added a brace, while Kyle Williams, Gary Joseph and Wood Julmis chipped in with goals. A Bahamas own goal and a Miguel Moreta goal accounted for the Dominican Republic’s scoring.
In a battle of Central America sides, El Salvador took down Guatemala 7-1 to stay atop Group B. Six different players scored for the Cuscatlecos, with Francisco Velasquez leading the way with a brace, followed by goals from Eliodoro Portillo, Heber Ramos, Exon Perdomo, Elmer Robles and Andres Cruz. William Alvarez found the back of the net for the Chapines.
The U.S. collected their second win in Group C in a 5-2 final over Trinidad and Tobago. The U.S. raced out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back thanks to a brace from Tomas Canale and goals from Christopher Toth, Nicolas Perera and Gabriel Silveira. Akinola Gregory and Dominic McDougall scored for the Soca Warriors.
Also in Group C, Costa Rica stayed unbeaten with a 5-1 win over Turks and Caicos Islands. Christian Sanchez notched a hat-trick for the Ticos and was joined on the scoresheet by Greivin Pacheco and Josue Sandi, the latter scoring a sensational goal with an overhead kick. Meanwhile, Jeff Beljour tallied the goal for Turks and Caicos Islands.
The day’s action started in Group A with Panama downing Belize 8-1. Alberto Kelly bagged a brace, while Jaime Londono, Eliecer Garcia, Alfonso Maquensi, Rigoberto Villarreal, Edgar Carvajal and Pedro Torres scored for the Canaleros. Marlon Meza found the back of the net for Belize.
