The Concacaf Disciplinary Committee today considered a protest from a club participating in the Flow Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship (FCCCC) alleging that Delfines del Este FC, a club from the Dominican Republic, fielded ineligible players in an FCCCC match on May 15 against Metropolitan FA.
FCCCC rules for all competing clubs include a requirement that players must be eligible to play in their club’s domestic league in order to be eligible to compete in the FCCCC.
Delfines del Este FC fielded six players in their FCCCC match against Metropolitan FA who were not eligible to play in the domestic league of the club (the LDF).
In these circumstances, the Committee has determined that Delfines del Este FC did breach competition regulations by fielding ineligible players, and ruled that the club has been sanctioned with a loss of its FCCCC match on May 15. The three points will now be awarded to Metropolitan FA with a three nil score. In these circumstances, Delfines Del Este FC will not progress in the competition and Metropolitan FA advances to the semifinals.
