MIAMI, Florida – The 2022 Flow Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship kicks off this Friday in the Dominican Republic with six teams looking to be crowned club champions of the Caribbean and earn a spot in the 2023 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.
Meanwhile, the second-place and third-place teams will gain entry into the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf League and the fourth-place finisher advancing to the SCL Playoff against Bayamon FC of Puerto Rico, the winner of the 2022 Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield.
Group B will see two teams with previous SCCL appearances looking to make their way back to the tournament in Waterhouse of Jamaica and Haitian club Arcahaie, along with Atletico Vega Real rounding out the group.
Waterhouse are no strangers to the FCCCC having finished second in the 2014, 2019 and 2020 editions. The Jamaican club will be seeking to go one step further this year and return to the SCCL for the first time since 2014-15 when they finished in the group stage.
Arcahaie finished in third-place in the 2020 edition and then parlayed that into a memorable semifinal run in that year’s SCL to earn a berth in the 2021 SCCL, where they went toe-to-toe with Mexican giants Cruz Azul for 90 minutes before being eliminated in the second leg of the Round of 16.
Arcahaie would like nothing better than to make another spirited run in the FCCCC to work their way back into a second SCCL or SCL appearance.
As runners-up in Dominican football in 2021, Atletico Vega Real qualified for their first FCCCC and will take aim at becoming the third different team from the Dominican Republic to qualify for the SCCL.
