Hope International, Cavaly hit ground running at FCCCC

Hope International and Cavaly AS were among the winners on Sunday as the 2021 Flow Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship continued on Sunday in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Hope International of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines kicked off their Group D campaign with an impressive 4-1 win over Olympique de Cayenne of French Guiana.

Kevin Samuel gave Hope International a 1-0 lead in the 12’ before Enrique Millington made it 2-0 in the 45’. 

Olympique de Cayenne pulled a goal back 2-1 right before halftime in the 45+2’ through Delano Batiste, only for Nazir McBurnette to restore Hope International’s two-goal advantage in the 71’ for a 3-1 lead. 

Joseph Douglas then put the finishing touches on the 4-1 victory with a late score in the 90+2 to wrap up the three points.

Also in Group D, AS Cavaly of Haiti used a strong start to power their way to a 3-0 victory against Scherpenheuvel of Curacao.

Roody Joseph scored in the 3’ and then the lead was doubled in the 12’ by Dorvil Gamael to give Cavaly a dream start and a 2-0 advantage. Scherpenheuvel looked to respond, but were unable to find a way past the Cavaly defense.

Cavaly then sealed the three points with a goal from Joseph Fenelson in the 86’ for the 3-0 final.

The opening match of Group C saw Don Bosco of Haiti and AS Samaritaine of Martinique play to an exciting 2-2 draw.

Elyvens Dejan opened the scoring for Don Bosco in the 14’, only for Patrick Percin to answer for Samaritaine in the 27’.

The Martinique side then grabbed a 2-1 lead in the 68’ through Dylan Florent, but Jean Innocent would score in the 79’ to make it a 2-2 final scoreline and a share of the points between the two sides.
