MIAMI, Florida – The 2022 Flow Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship kicks off this Friday in the Dominican Republic with six teams looking to be crowned club champions of the Caribbean and earn a spot in the 2023 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League.
Meanwhile, the second-place and third-place teams will gain entry into the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf League and the fourth-place finisher advancing to the SCL Playoff against Bayamon FC of Puerto Rico, the winner of the 2022 Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield.
There is no shortage of pedigree in Group A, which will feature Cibao FC of the Dominican Republic, Violette of Haiti and Jamaican side Cavalier.
Cibao FC are participating in their third FCCCC and have one title to their name, achieving that feat in 2017 to become the first Dominican Republic team to qualify for the SCCL.
After winning the 2021 domestic title in Dominican football, Cibao will be on the hunt to win a second title and make a SCCL return.
Violette also has a great history in Concacaf competition, having emerged as Concacaf champions in 1984 when they lifted the Concacaf Champions Cup.
As 2020 Haitian champions, Violette are in their first FCCCC since 2002 and will be aiming to become the sixth different Haitian club to compete in the SCCL in the SCCL era.
Rounding out the group is Jamaican side Cavalier, who were champions of the 2021 National Premier League and will be appearing in their first FCCCC. They would become the fifth different Jamaican club to qualify for the SCCL should they lift the trophy.
