Arnett Gardens, Grenades FC advance to CFU Club Shield Final and Concacaf Caribbean Cup

WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao – Arnett Gardens FC of Jamaica and Grenades Football Club of Antigua and Barbuda won their respective semifinal encounters to advance to Sunday’s final. The clubs also secured the last two spots in the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup.

Club Atlético Pantoja of the Dominican Republic and CCCUL Dublanc of Dominica will meet on Sunday in the third-place match.

Arnett Gardens FC wins it late

Arnett Gardens FC of Jamaica won 2-1 against Club Atlético Pantoja of the Dominican Republic to become the first finalist in the CFU Club Shield Final.

Keneldo Brown scored the opening goal in the 18th minute with a right-footed shot from the top of the box.

Robert Rosado tied it in the 23’ with a penalty kick conversion.

Fabian Reid scored the match-winner in the 90’+4 by connecting with his right foot on a cross into the box. Reid also increased his tally to four goals to lead the top scorer race.

The result places Arnett Gardens FC in its first final and a first for any Jamaican club.

Grenades Football Club wins fourth in a row

Grenades Football Club of Antigua and Barbuda won 1-nil over CCCUL Dublanc of Dominica to attain the final spot in the championship match.

Sherman Augustin scored the lone goal of the encounter in the 84’ with a strike inside the penalty area.

Grenades FC is the lone team still alive from those that started in the preliminary round and has won four consecutive encounters. Grenades will also make history as the first team from their country to play in the final.

Championship Sunday awaits

Friday’s results have confirmed the final and third place match for Sunday at the Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca.
