MIAMI, Florida – The 2022 Concacaf Caribbean Shield (CCCS) in Puerto Rico kicks off on Friday with 11 teams in search of the title and a place in the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf League Play-Off.

Group A will have all of its matches played at the Estadio Juan Ramon Loubriel in Bayamon, where host club Bayamon FC heads up a group of four teams.

In addition to Bayamon FC, Platinum FC of Saint Lucia, South East FC of Dominica and Junior Stars FC of Saint Martin will play for the top spot in the group.

For Bayamon, South East and Junior Stars, it will be their first ever appearance in the CCCS, while Platinum participated in the 2019 edition, finishing in the group stage.

Previously, Bayamon competed in four different editions of the CFU Club Championship in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014, reaching the Final Round in 2014 and qualifying for the 2014-15 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, becoming just the second Puerto Rican club to achieve that feat.

South East also have a history of competing in Caribbean tournaments having played in the 2007 CFU Club Championship, while Junior Stars will be making their maiden voyage into Concacaf competition.

The four teams will play a round-robin, with the first-place team advancing to the semifinals. Depending on the results of the other two groups, the second-place finisher from Group A could also advance to the semifinals.
