WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao – The 2024 CFU Club Shield preliminary round concluded with two matches on Friday at the Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca in Willemstad, Curaçao.

Grenades Football Club defeated Guyana Defence Force FC in an eight-goal game. CCCUL Dublanc topped A.S. Junior Stars for the other spot in the next round.

Grenades FC win an eight-goal thriller

Grenades FC of Antigua and Barbuda earned a 6-2 victory over Guyana Defence Force.

Kelsey Benjamin scored the opening goal in the 20’ with a conversion from the penalty spot to place the Guyana side in the lead.

Sherman Augustin tied the encounter in the 35’, pouncing on a rebound after a block on Malcolm Stewart.

Barrington Blake extended the lead for Grenades FC in the 65’ with a strike to the upper left netting.

Malcolm Stewart penned his name on the scoresheet in the 71’ on a breakaway opportunity for the Antigua and Barbuda side.

Luis Labrada added a fourth for Grenades in the 74’ with a composed finish in the box.

Rakeem Henry extended the lead even further in the 78’ with a header in the box.

Guayana Defence Force cut the deficit in the 82’ with a goal from Shemar Scott.

Daryl Massicot added one last goal for Grenades in the 90’+5 to cap off the six-goal offensive performance.

The following opponent for Grenades FC will be Bonaire club SV Real Rincon in the Round of 16 on Sunday.

CCCUL Dublanc takes final spot from prelims

Dominica side CCCUL Dublanc scored in each half to take a 2-nil win against A.S. Junior Stars of Saint Martin.

Travist Joseph scored in the 42’ by striking from close range to seal a lead before the half.

Audel Laville added a second in the 90’+1 with a goal from deep in midfield to put a bow on the victory.

CCCUL Dublanc advances to the Round of 16 and will Scholars International Sports Club of the Cayman Islands on Sunday.
