Quarterfinals defined in CFU Club Shield

WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao – The 2024 CFU Club Shield concluded the Round of 16 on Sunday in Willemstad, Curaçao.

After advancing in the preliminary round, Grenades Football Club and CCCUL Dublanc earned their second consecutive victories. Reigning Caribbean shield winner SV Robinhood started its defense with a victory over Etoile De Matoury.

America FC of Haiti forfeited its match as they were unable to make the tournament. Rams Village Superstars FC of Saint Kitts and Nevis advanced as a result.

Grenades wins second straight

Grenades Football Club of Antigua and Barbuda won 2-1 over SV Real Rincon of Bonaire at the Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca.

Malcolm Stewart struck a header in the box in the 42’ for the leading goal.

Luis Labrada extended the lead in the 64’ with a shot inside the penalty area.

Ayrton Cicilia struck from the edge of the penalty arc in the 78’ to cut the deficit for Real Rincon.

Robinhood continue title defense

SV Robinhood of Suriname, the 2023 Concacaf Caribbean Cup winners, earned a 4-1 victory against A.S. Etoile De Matoury of French Guiana at the Ergilio Hato Stadium.

Doekoe Gordon opened the scoring in the 19’ with a right-footed finish inside the box.

Don Tuur struck the equalizer in the 24’ to begin the Robinhood comeback.

Jamilhio Rigters converted from the penalty spot in the 34’ as the Suriname side took the lead.

Shaquille Cairo hit a lob from distance in the 54’ to stretch the lead by three.

Rigters extended the lead in the 90’+2 to put a bow on the victory.

Dublanc win again

CCCUL Dublanc of Dominica won 3-nil against Scholars International Sports Club from the Cayman Islands at the Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca.

Chad Bertrand scored from the penalty spot in the 13’ for the opening goal.

Audel Laville added a second for the Dominica side in the 30’ with a strike inside the box.

Dublanc captain Briel Thomas struck in the 75’ off a free kick to place his name on the candidate sheet for goal of the tournament.

Quarterfinals are set

With the final eight teams determined, the quarterfinals are set to take place on Tuesday. The following is the schedule for the next round:
