WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao – The 2024 CFU Club Shield Round of 16 kicked off with four matches on Saturday hosted across two stadiums in Willemstad, Curaçao.
Metropolitan FA and Arnett Gardens FC won their encounters at the Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca. Club Atlético Pantoja and CRKSV Jong Holland won the matches contested at the Ergilio Hato Stadium.
The quarterfinals will be contested on Tuesday. Metropolitan FA and Club Atlético Pantoja will face off at the Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca. CRKSV Jong Holland and Arnett Gardens FC will meet at the Ergilio Hato Stadium.
Metropolitan FA victorious
Metropolitan FA of Puerto Rico earned a 2-nil victory over SWA Sharks FC of the Turks and Caicos Islands at the Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca.
Matias Maroni scored the first goal in the 17’ with a header off a corner kick.
Diego Amarilla extended the Metropolitan lead in the 67’ after winning the ball in midfield and driving into the box to finish with a right-footed shot.
Club Atlético Pantoja to the quarters
Dominican Republic side Club Atlético Pantoja defeated Defence Force FC of Trinidad and Tobago, 1-nil, at the Ergilio Hato Stadium.
Luis Espinal scored the match-winning goal in the 77’ to decide a tightly contested encounter.
Racing Club Aruba vs. Arnett Gardens FC
Jamaican side Arnett Gardens FC earned a 2-1 victory over Racing Club Aruba Stadion Rignaal Jean Francisca.
Racing Club Aruba took the lead in the 2’ as Jhon Silva pounced on the defense to take the ball away and score.
Keneldo Brown struck inside the box in the 45’+1 to tie the match just before halftime.
Rushane Thompson came off the bench to score the match-winner in the 90’ as Arnett Gardens FC would hold off for the win.
CRKSV Jong Holland vs. BAYS FC
CRKSV Jong Holland of Curaçao took a 3-nil victory over Saint Lucia side BAYS FC at the Ergilio Hato Stadium.
Davidson Rosa struck in the 11’ to deliver the opening goal.
Rosa scored again in the 45’, connecting on a through ball to set up his finish in the box.
Shurwendel Roosje scored in the 79’ with a strike from the left side of the penalty area to seal the victory.
