CA Independiente will participate in the Champions Cup for the second time.
CAI have qualified for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup as 2023 Concacaf Central American Cup semifinalists. They will begin in Round One. CAI’s debut in the Champions Cup in 2019 was one to remember. The Panamanian side eliminated 2018 finalists Toronto FC by a 5-1 aggregate score, which included a 4-0 home victory against the Canadians.
CAI then narrowly fell in the quarterfinal round to Sporting Kansas City 4-2 on aggregate, but not without a 2-1 win against the MLS side at home in the first leg. Romeesh Ivey (3 goals) and Omar Browne (2 goals) are the club’s all-time top scorers in the Champions Cup.
