The 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League commences this week with eight first leg Round of 16 matches. The region’s premier men’s club competition begins with three games played tonight (Tuesday, April 6, 2021): CD Marathon v Portland Timbers; LD Alajualense v Atlanta United; and Arcahaie FC v Cruz Azul. They are followed by a further three Round of 16 matches on Wednesday and two on Thursday (full schedule below).

COVID Protocols
Following the successful delivery of the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf League, the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, and the recent Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifiers, Concacaf has accumulated extensive experience in delivering competitions in a COVID environment with protocols to ensure the safety of all participants.

In the case of the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, Concacaf has developed robust COVID protocols which all competing clubs are following. All participants (players, coaches, traveling staff, and match officials) are required to have multiple COVID-19 tests before each match. Combined with other regulations and protocols, this process will ensure a safe environment during the competition.

In the event of any new positive COVID-19 case(s) during the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, Concacaf will publish a COVID-19 update regarding the relevant match.

Update for Tuesday, April 6 Matches
For the matches on April 6, there are two new positive COVID-19 cases within the Arcahaie FC delegation. Both individuals are isolating and following all relevant Concacaf and local public health guidelines. Concacaf is also ensuring they and their club are being provided with the necessary support. All of the April 6 matches will go ahead as planned.

Attending Fans
For fans to attend any Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League match, the relevant club must have authorization from their local authority. Additionally, Concacaf requires from clubs an operations plan which clearly demonstrates that there is a safety perimeter that separates any attending fans from entering the controlled environment in which the participants in the match will be present.
