MIAMI, Florida Haitian club Arcahaie will make their Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League debut when they take on Mexican giants Cruz Azul in the first leg of the 2021 SCCL Round of 16 on Tuesday night at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Caribbean side qualified for the 2021 SCCL as one of the top six teams from the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf League and now a new adventure awaits in Concacaf’s premier club competition.

The Haitian outfit displayed strong defensive qualities thanks in part to GK Guerry Romondt, while an opportunistic attack found goals at the right moment in their 2020 SCL campaign.

Arcahaie’s SCCL journey begins with one of Concacaf’s most decorated clubs in Cruz Azul. The six-time Concacaf champions are looking to take a step forward in the tournament after their quarterfinal finish in the 2020 edition.

There is plenty of reason for optimism among Cruz Azul fans. The team currently sits atop the table in Liga MX with a 11W-0D-2L record and boast one of the best goal-scorers in Mexican football in FW Jonathan Rodriguez, who has six goals.

Not to be outdone is attacking MF Roberto Alvarado, who is fresh off of winning the 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship with Mexico.

Cruz Azul also have a favorable history when it comes to facing Caribbean competition, with an overall record of 6W-1D-1L against teams from the islands.
