Atlas, Columbus among winners in Sunday’s Leagues Cup action

MIAMI, Florida – The first round of the group stage of the 2023 Leagues Cup wrapped up on Sunday, beginning with a 1-0 win for Liga MX side Atlas over New York City FC at Citi Field in Queens, New York in East Group 3. Aldo Rocha scored for Atlas.

The final all-MLS contest of the night saw Nashville SC top Colorado Rapids 2-1 atGEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee, in Central Group 4. Jacon Shaffelburg, who scored for Canada in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup quarterfinals, tallied the game-winning goal for Nashville.
