MIAMI, Florida – As 2023 draws to a close, the Concacaf region will soon shift its focus to 2024, which will be another very busy year for club competitions.
A new day has dawned in the Concacaf region with the 2024 Champions Cup, as an expanded format involving 27 qualified teams from 10 different associations will take hold beginning on February 6.
The tournament will begin with 22 teams competing in Round One in a series of 11 two-legged contests, which include decorated former champions like seven-time winners Club America and five-time champions Monterrey of Liga MX, plus three-time Concacaf champions Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica.
The winners of those Round One series will advance to the Round of 16, where five teams will be waiting: 2023 Concacaf Caribbean Cup champions Robinhood of Suriname, 2023 Central American Cup champions Alajuelense of Costa Rica, 2023 Leagues Cup champions Inter Miami, 2023 MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew and 2022 Liga MX Apertura champions Pachuca, who finished with the best aggregate record among Liga MX champions.

There will be a lot at stake in the 2024 Champions Cup, with the Final set to be played on June 2 in a single-legged match on a weekend night. The winner of the 2024 Champions Cup will not only qualify for the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to be held in the United States, but the champion will also advance to the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup in which the 2024 Champions Cup winner will play against the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores winner.

The summer will also mark the start of both the Central American Cup and the Caribbean Cup. The top 10 teams from the Caribbean and the top 20 teams from Central America will once again vie for their respective regional championships.
The top three finishers from the Caribbean Cup are once again slotted to qualify for the 2025 Champions Cup, while the top six finishers from the Central American Cup will qualify for the 2025 Champions Cup, with the champion of each tournament advancing directly to the Champions Cup Round of 16.
Robinhood emerged as champions of the 2023 Caribbean Cup, while Costa Rican giants Alajuelense won the 2023 Central American Cup.
