Club America were forced to make an early substitution in the 4’ as Sebastian Caceres exited due to injury. Ramon Juarez entered in his stead.
Emilio Rodriguez placed Pachuca in the lead in the 12’ with a left-footed strike towards the bottom left corner of the goal. Rodriguez pounced on a deflected ball from a shot by Salomon Rondon.
Nelson Deossa extended the lead in the 14’ with a left-footed hit of his own from inside the edge of the box.
Henry Martin cut the deficit in the 23’ with a header at the left post, connecting on a cross from Alejandro Zendejas. Martin’s goal marked his 9th overall in the Concacaf Champions Cup, placing him second in Club America’s all-time scorers list in the competition.
Carlos Moreno kept the scoreline intact with a save in the box in the 25’ to block an attempt from Alvaro Fidalgo. The Pachuca goalkeeper made a critical stop in the 39’ to deny Martin the potential equalizer.
Rondon had his eyes set on goal in the 52’ but his shot was blocked by Igor Lichnovsky.
Elias Montiel had a header on goal in the 76’ but the attempt ended at the hands of America goalkeeper Luis Malagon.
Deossa struck from long range in the 78’ but Malagon was there again to de-escalate any danger.
America went down to ten men after a red card was shown to Israel Reyes in the 89’ for denial of a goalscoring opportunity.
The result awards Pachuca a place in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup Final against the winner of the Monterrey-Columbus Crew series. The Tuzos are in search of a sixth CCC trophy, last winning it during the 2016-17 edition.
