Antigua GFC boss Montoya: “We know Forge’s strong points and weak points”

HAMILTON, Ontario– Antigua GFC will be looking for its first ever win in Concacaf club competition when it takes on Canada’s Forge FC in the first leg of the Preliminary Round of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.

The Guatemalan outfit started its domestic season off on the right foot last Sunday with a 2-0 win over Malacateco and now it will look to do the same in the club’s first ever foray in the SCL.

“We have been preparing a while for this match during preseason and the team has worked well,” said Antigua GFC Head Coach Robeto Montoya in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

“I think the preparation matches that we have had prior to the domestic season and this tournament have served us well for this match,” added Montoya.

Forge FC may be a first-year club participating in the inaugural edition of the Canadian Premier League, but Montoya is keenly aware that Thursday’s home team have a lot of weapons that can do damage.

“We have spent several weeks analyzing Forge. We have watched videos and have been following them and we see that they are a team that plays well. They are well organized and motivated just like us for this type of event, so we know already what they’re all about, their best players, their weak points and their strong points,” concluded Montoya.
