CIUDAD GUATEMALA, Guatemala – Thanks to his excellent performances throughout the
2021 Scotiabank Concacaf League, Comunicaciones FW Juan Anangono has earned the
Scotiabank Best Player Award as the tournament’s most valuable player.
The 32-year-old Ecuadorian attacker started all 10 of Comunicaciones’ matches during the
tournament and finished as the 2021 SCL top scorer with six goals.
Anangono saved his best for last by producing the best performance ever by an individual
player in an SCL Final match, with a hat trick and an assist in Comunicaciones’ 4-2 win over
Motagua of Honduras in the Final second leg.
That feat made Anangono the first player to score a hat trick in an SCL Final and would finish
the Final overall with four goals and two assists. Anangono is now also the all-time leader in
most goals scored in an SCL final with four.
“I feel happy for all that we accomplished,” said Anangono in an exclusive interview with
Concacaf.com following Tuesday’s decisive victory. “We dreamed about it, we worked and we
earned it.”
