FAS target comeback in second leg with Forge FC

Published on

MIAMI, Florida – El Salvador’s CD FAS will be targeting a comeback when they face Forge FC of Canada in the second leg of the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf League Preliminary Round on Tuesday night at the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The two sides met a week ago in the first leg at the Estadio Cuscatlan, where the North American club emerged with a 3-1 win.

But FAS are a side that should never be counted out and by evidence of their impressive 3-0 win against Municipal Limeno over the weekend in the Salvadoran Apertura, FAS will be primed and ready for Tuesday’s showdown.

The key for the home side will be to get the likes of FW Luis Peralta and MF Guillermo Stradella firing early and often. Peralta has four goals in four games on the domestic front, while Stradella has three scores.

An early goal could be just the thing that inspires FAS to rally from the two-goal deficit.

Meanwhile, Forge FC continue to impress when playing away from home in the SCL, particularly in Central America.

In their third appearance in the tournament, Forge now own a 5W-1D-2L record against teams from the Central American region and after last week’s result, they have won both matches thus far against Salvadoran opposition, having defeated Municipal Limeno 2-1 in El Salvador in last year’s SCL.

David Choiniere looks to be right back at home in the SCL after scoring the third Forge goal in last week’s win. The FW now has four career goals in eight SCL matches and will be eager for more on Tuesday.
