MIAMI, Florida – The second leg matches of the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf League quarterfinals saw a number of players deliver top performances. Here are the ones who stood out the most at their respective position.
GK Luis Lopez, Real Espana – Another game, another highlight reel full of saves from Lopez. The Real Espana shot-stopper was simply superb at holding Herediano to just one goal in their 1-1 second leg draw and he finished the night with five saves and four clearances.
DF Ariel Soto, Herediano – Herediano may be exiting the tournament, but Soto goes down as the highest ranked defender for the week after two steals and two shots while completing 94 percent of his passes.
DF Gabriel Carvalho, Olimpia – Olimpia’s big defender completed 38 of 40 passes and had two steals to help keep Diriangen under wraps in the second half, enabling Olimpia’s comeback 3-1 win.
DF Getsel Montes, Real Espana – Montes provided a crucial early goal for his side against Herediano and then proceeded to deliver a solid defensive performance in the back for the visiting Hondurans.

MF Luis Asprilla, Tauro – The Tauro right back was active at both ends of the field, completing all 27 of his passes going forward, while helping the Tauro defense keep a second straight clean sheet.
MF Juan Delgado, Motagua – Delgado may have only played 58 minutes, but he was excellent in his time on the field and finished as the highest ranked midfielder. Delgado had a steal and a shot on top of completing 97 percent of his passes.
MF Hector Castellanos, Motagua – Castellanos makes the Best XI for a second straight week thanks to another sparkling effort in the Motagua midfield by completing an incredible 117 of 121 passes.
MF Leonel Torres, Diriangen – The visiting Nicaraguans held a 1-0 lead going into the second half at Olimpia thanks to a nice strike from Torres. He also contributed on the defensive end with two steals.
MF Aaron Suarez, Alajuelense – At age 20 Suarez is just starting to show the rest of the Concacaf region the kind of special player he is becoming. Suarez scored the second of Alajuelense’s two goals against Alianza and completed the night with six shots and 52 of 57 passes completed.
FW Anthony Contreras, Herediano – Contreras is another young player (22) who continues to impress. He scored the Herediano goal in their 1-1 draw with Real Espana and finished the week as the top ranked forward.
FW Jerry Bengtson, Olimpia – The veteran striker makes the Best XI for a second consecutive week after scoring for the second game in a row. He also took three shots in 67 minutes of action.
