MIAMI, Florida — Every week, women’s football around the world delivers some of the best performances in the sport.
In the Women’s Super League of England, the battle for every single point is on and every zone in the table is in a fight to see which team can climb positions. In the top section, clubs are not missing a beat, keeping fans in England and the rest of the world on the edge of their seats to see what happens next.
The current leader of the table, Manchester United, kept showing their great improvements in their game after their latest win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, 3-0.
The Red Devils showed great resistance and displayed smart tactics throughout the game, scoring the first two goals in the first half and closing the game with a third one at the beginning of the second. This half also gave a chance to Canada international Jayde Riviere, Manchester United’s latest signing to keep their defensive line strong, to debut in the WSL.
The Canadian defender arrived at Manchester at the beginning of the year after her great performances in previous seasons, especially in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, as she was part of the Canada squad that won the Gold Medal. Now, she is ready for her next chance to help a team emerge as champions.

Chelsea FC, the defending champion, is currently sitting in second place of the table behind leaders Manchester United. After their defeat to Barcelona in the Semifinals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Chelsea went back to England even more motivated to win it all on the domestic front.
This past Sunday morning they let the world know that they will keep fighting to defend their title, with a 7-0 win against Everton. The first half was full of goals, with Chelsea scoring five. Canadian game-changer and star Jessie Fleming was a key part of this victory, assisting on the fourth goal and minutes later, in the 43’, scoring the fifth goal of the game.
With this win, the Blues are only four points away from Manchester United, guaranteeing that the next games of the WSL will be some of the best of the season.
These two teams have shown what they are made of in the league and in different domestic competitions, fighting each other to see who will come on top this season. And right in the middle of it all are a pair of Canada teammates, whose next encounter will be in the final of the Women’s FA Cup this coming Sunday.
